We enjoy reading the fascinating posts from the Western Reserve Historical Society’s Then and Now blog. This month features stories from Cleveland’s Jewish community. The museum has documents and photos related to Agudath B’nai Israel, a Jewish congregation in Lorain. The photos were donated by ABI trustees and have been made available online to the public through the support of Nat Fields and Ron Alpern.
May is Jewish American Heritage Month. Celebrate Cleveland’s rich Jewish history this month by visiting the WRHS website and reading about the congregation related to Jewish history.
While you’re there, poke around through the other blog posts that cover topics including the story of Anna “Annie” Kopchovsky, a Jewish immigrant and young mother of three, who gained notoriety in the 1890s with her plan to ride a bike around the world, a trip that took her through Cleveland. It’s great reading. We’re fortunate to have access to the historical society’s resources, both online and in person.
