Explore Little-Known Areas of Summit Metro Parks

A hike through the woods is a great way to clear your head of COVID-19 worries. But if you’ve passed by crowded parking areas at popular parks, you know that social distancing is a goal, not a given. Summit Metro Parks has its share of popular parks and trails. For a full list, go to summitmetroparks.org/find-park-or-trail.aspx. Playgrounds, shelters, docks and some restrooms are closed due to state guidelines. Check the website summitmetroparks.org for the latest closures.If you’re a senior citizen or in a high-risk group (and an early bird), the parks are reserved for your use between 6-8 a.m. Set your alarm and watch the woods and trails come alive with birds and other critters.And if you’re looking for trails and parks that are usually not very crowded, here are a few to try, according to park managers:

North Hawkins & Treaty Line Areas of Sand Run Metro Park
Chuckery & Oxbow Areas of Cascade Valley Metro Park (currently accessible only from the north on Cuyahoga Street)
Lake Area at Munroe Falls Metro Park
Deep Lock Quarry Metro Park
As areas dry out: Hampton Hills, O’Neil Woods & Wood Hollow Metro Parks
