Rooted in the Biblical concept of a Year of Jubilee described in Leviticus 25, and first established as a Holy Year in 1300 by Pope Boniface VIII, the Catholic Church continues the tradition of a Jubilee Holy Year in 2025. Facilitated by George Matejka on ZOOM, This presentation unpacks the original religious meaning of the Year of Jubilee and traces its development in Christianity. The theme of this Holy Year, Pilgrims of Hope, invites us to reflect on the tradition of pilgrimage – then and now — as well as on the theological virtue of hope. We will develop a personalized approach to participation in the spiritual blessings available to us during this Holy Year of 2025. Cost: $20.
