What are you reading?
Does your mind go blank when someone asks that question? Worse yet, does it go blank because you’re not reading anything at all?
Public library websites (two to try: Cleveland Public Library and Cuyahoga County Public Library) offer staff suggestions and a list of patrons’ most requested books if you’re in a reading rut. One I just finished has been out for several years; it’s Carly Simon’s autobiography, “Boys in the Trees.” I downloaded the audio version from the Cuyahoga County Public Library and Simon narrates. It’s a terrifically dishy account of her life; the ’70s were especially fun.
To get started for October’s National Book Month, here’s what’s on Cleveland Public Library’s “Cleveland’s Favorites” list:
- “Verity” by Colleen Hoover
- “The Last Thing He Told Me” by Laura Dave
- “The Four Winds” by Kristin Hannah
- “It Ends with Us” by Colleen Hoover
- “The Lincoln Highway” by Amor Towles
- “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- “The Last Thing He Told Me” by Laura Dave
- “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens
- “The Girl in His Shadow” by Audrey Blake
- “The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig
