Some urgent volunteer opportunities include:

Are you looking for a way to make a difference in the lives of older adults in the Cleveland community? Do you enjoy talking on the telephone? Consider becoming a Nutrition Solution volunteer.
Volunteers assist homebound older adults who have recently been discharged from the hospital by setting up weekly phone calls to address issues of food insecurity and social isolation.
As a Nutrition Solution volunteer, you will:
- Make at least one assigned phone call weekly to an older adult lasting approximately 20 minutes
- Review monthly nutrition education information with the older adult during phone call
- Communicate with the Nutrition Solution Volunteer Coordinator to discuss changes in health status of older adult
- Submit a weekly call log to the Nutrition Solution Volunteer Coordinator
Please note that once enrolled as a volunteer, you may not receive an assignment immediately. Volunteers are matched with an older adult after the participant is discharged from the hospital and enrolls in the program.
To become a Nutrition Solution volunteer, you must:
- Commit to participating in the program for a minimum of 6 months
- Be available 30 minutes/week at the time of your choice (20-minute phone call from a location of your choosing; 10-minute documentation of call)
- Have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Be an active listener
- Maintain personal boundaries
- Be friendly, reliable and trustworthy
- Pass a FBI Background Check
All Nutrition Solution volunteers receive a two-hour face-to-face training with Nutrition Solution program staff.
