Veterans Day marks a day of remembrance of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in our history. In 1918, President Woodrow Wilson led the free world and its allies to an armistice with Germany and those who opposed peace after World War I.
At Arlington National Cemetery on November 11, 1985, President Ronald Reagan reminded the nation, “When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our country, for us. And all we can do is remember.”
When I recall the multitude of veterans we have cared for and the stories they shared, I remember their devotion to these virtues they valiantly fought for to protect our great land. All that our flag represents – a beacon of hope!
We must not forget these ideals, especially in times of turmoil. Reagan said it best, “Peace fails when we forget what we stand for. It fails when we forget that our Republic is based on firm principles, principles that have real meaning.”
Most importantly, we must not forget the faithfulness of our almighty God and His grace to our great country.
We at Ohman Family Living at Briar salute you and pray for you as we remember the great men and women who gave much of themselves for our country!
