Pandemic Positivity*
Many organizations are rethinking the way they serve others during the COVID-19 crisis. A good example is the Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult Services.
While many meal sites, adult day care and senior centers are closed, the county notes that several places have arranged alternative ways to get food to older adults who need it. Some offer drive-by pickups, others deliver meals to homes.
Here’s their list of modified services from senior centers, adult day programs and meal sites. Contact the centers directly to confirm hours and services.
The county says for additional food assistance, you may also contact Cuyahoga Job and Family Services at 844-640-OHIO, your local Area Agency on Aging at 216-621-0303, or the Greater Cleveland Food Bank at 216-738-2067.
*Pandemic Positivity is a new effort Boomer is launching to make people aware of the GOOD things happening amidst the coronavirus pandemic. While Contending with COVID-19 will remain a regular section on our website, it will focus more on the nitty-gritty details of how to manage your health and practical next steps as we navigate through this public health crisis. Pandemic Positivity, on the other hand, is a place where we can relax a bit and celebrate the significant — at times, inspiring— problem-solving, ingenuity and humanity demonstrated by our neighbors throughout Northeast Ohio.
