On Monday, May 5th at 7:30pm, Cleveland Institute of Music students Jack Naglick, Jeremy Foster, and Peter O’Malley will hold a recital in the sanctuary of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, featuring two staples of the piano trio repertoire: Beethoven’s “Archduke” Trio and Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 2. This performance marks the culmination of their studies this year with CIM faculty members Anita Pontremoli and Si-Yan Darren Li.
Both pieces share dedications to friends: the Beethoven, to his friend and student, Archduke Rudolph of Austria, and the Shostakovich, to Ivan Sollertinsky, his closest friend who died in the months that Shostakovich wrote the trio.
“This program, the culmination of our work together this school year, has been such a joy to put together. We’re really excited to share it with our Cleveland friends,” says cellist Peter O’Malley.
