Cuyahoga County Junior Fair Fun this Weekend

The Cuyahoga County Junior Fair is remaining active, even from a distance, this weekend, during what would have been Cuyahoga County Fair week. Spokesperson Robin Stone states, “We have taken our normal fair activities and tweaked them to fit our current need. It is our hope to make some of these new activities annual events, even when we go back to in-person next year.”

Here’s what’s on tap for the weekend:

Friday, August 14th
▪ Time Capsule and 4-H Hollywood Squares – 4-H members were given a sandwich size zip lock bag. They were instructed to place an item in the bag that represented 2020 to them. Our plan is to dig it up during fair 2021. The purpose is to show youth that what seems so important right now will (hopefully) move on and that Things Change, The World Changes and they change….

▪ 4-H Hollywood Squares – Youth can sign up to represent their favorite celebrity and be in a square. Also recruited contestants and a MC. This will be played online at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 15th
▪ 4-H Jumanji Day – Are you tired of the ordinary? Is your family needing some adventure? Join us on Saturday, August 15thfrom 11:00 a.m. –2:00 p.m. and “Dare to Explore” our 4-H Jumanji game. Your adventure will take place at your house. In your fair box you will receive a 4-H Jumanji kit. But beware, if you open the kit prior to 11:00 a.m. you may disappear in the game and be doomed to repeat the year 2020. Your adventure will have you solving riddles, figuring out puzzles, overcoming obstacles, and creating memories as a family. If you get stuck, the 4-H team will be online to answer questions. So pack your backpack and be prepared for 3 hours of exciting adventure. Are you prepared? Only the strongest will survive, and I’m not just talking about lunch. Let’s see how many families will survive the ultimate 4-H game!!

Sunday, August 16th (Next Actual onsite gathering) with the practice of all-things COVID SAFE.
▪ Families are invited to come to the fairgrounds from 1-3pm where they will pull in driveway for gate 2. In the gravel area, outside gate 2 they will be presented with containers to collect quilt squares, service bags and time capsule bags. We will also be placing their awards (that are pre-packed) in their trunks. They will pull out the gate 3 drive and pull around to gate 5 to treat their families to some delicious fair food via the Cuyahoga County Fair Food Drive Thru going on this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) 11am-7pm each day.
