Bob Mankoff, cartoon and humor editor for Esquire, will be in Cleveland on Thursday, November 7 as the keynote event for the 20th Annual Mandel JCC Cleveland Jewish Book Festival.
Mankoff will discuss his latest book, “Have I Got a Cartoon for You! The Moment Magazine Book of Jewish Cartoons.” His presentation will examine how his Jewish heritage helped him to become a successful cartoonist and also the place of cartoons in the vibrant history of Jewish humor.
Former staff cartoonist for The New Yorker for 35 years and its cartoon editor for 10 years, Mankoff is the founder of the online Cartoon Bank and is currently the cartoon and humor editor for Esquire. He’s been featured on CBS’s “60 Minutes” and has been the subject of an HBO documentary.
The event takes place on November 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mandel Jewish Community Center (26001 S. Woodland Road, Beachwood). Tickets are $20 for JCC members and $25 for community members. This event is part of the Cleveland Jewish Book Festival, which runs November 3-18. Other featured authors include Ronald Balson, Judith Viorst, Myla Goldberg and Sasha Sagan.
