A Sweet Adventure

A Sweet Adventure

Grammy on the Go

Do you want to go to a fun, all-in-one place where you can shop for candy, play miniature golf and eat ice cream? Then b.a Sweeties is where you need to take the grandkids this summer! This complex offers a multitude of fun, yet is still small enough to be able to maintain social distancing and to feel safe.

Entering the front door of the candy shop, you are greeted by a huge lollypop sculpture, along with giant plastic M&Ms and other candies. Walking through the candy store is a nostalgic trip into the past for the grandparents and an exciting adventure in color, sweet smells and fun for the kids.  The store even provides small shopping carts that the littles love to push around up and down the long candy-filled aisles. Choose a favorite candy to share together and purchase more to take home. You can share your past candy memory stories with your grandkids and show them what you enjoyed eating as a child. Remember those packs of candy cigarettes, cigar bubblegum and wax bottles filled with sugar liquid? Not very healthy, but were so much fun to eat!

If you feel like golfing after shopping, the course is adjacent to the candy store. It is a very cute (candy-themed, of course) and colorful (purple greens) miniature golf course with 36 holes. You can play all, or choose either the easy or hard 18-hole mini-golf course. The grounds are nicely landscaped and quite shady, with a large pond stocked with koi and a water wheel powered by a 120-foot-long cascading water creek which runs throughout the courses. Our little guys were mesmerized by the flowing creek and kept asking, “What happens if your ball goes into the creek?” Well, it was only a few minutes later that one of their balls “accidentally” landed into the creek. Luckily for us, the creek emptied into a large pond where a long-handled net was supplied and easily picked up the floating ball.

After golfing, the favorite attraction is the ice cream parlor which is attached to the back of the candy store. Along with regular tables and booths, there are old cow pails and swing seats to sit on. Of course, the kids will have to try all of these seating options! We finally decided to eat outdoors on the patio. The grandkids especially enjoy choosing from the many varieties of toppings that are offered. Favorites are gummy worms and all different colored sprinkles. Apparently, these are very delicious on top of ice cream!

I would recommend going on a weekday, soon after opening, before it becomes more crowded and temperatures are cooler. There is a concession stand at the golf course if you want to feed the grandkids a little lunch before having ice cream, or just indulge in an exclusive ice cream lunch!

So, b.a. Sweetie and take your grandkids for a sweet adventure!
