Seven men born in Ohio became president. An eighth – William Henry Harrison – was living here when he was elected to the office. To mark our presidential plenty, along with Presidents Day (Feb. 18), why not stop in at a few local presidential sites to honor their public service?
Lakeview Cemetery is the final resting place for James A. Garfield. The Garfield Monument closed for tours in the winter – it reopens April 1 – but you can walk around the imposing monument and check out the lovely cemetery’s other monuments while you’re there.
Learn about William McKinley at the McKinley Memorial Library, Museum & Birthplace in Niles. Down in Canton, you’ll find the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum. He’s also buried in Canton.
While you’re in Canton, visit the National First Ladies’ Library to learn more about the women who helped make the men who led our country.
