The holidays for the Northeast Ohio Boomer team felt different this year for one big reason: We weren’t busy pulling together our January/February issue to kick off 2025.
As we announced a few months ago, Boomer has a new name and a new publishing schedule. We’re now Northeast Ohio Thrive After 55, or Northeast Ohio Thrive for short. The name better reflects our readers, many of whom are not technically Baby Boomers. Plus, we think “Thrive” better describes how many of us approach this second half of life. Overall, we’re enjoying healthier, more active lives than any previous generation at this stage of life. We believe our magazine name and brand should, and now do, reflect that energy.
So, what does this mean for you, our readers? Thrive’s spring issue will arrive in March at your favorite store racks and locations throughout Northeast Ohio. I’ll remain the editor as the magazine moves into its 10th year; I can’t believe we’ve been celebrating aging in Northeast Ohio for almost a decade. I attribute our success to you, our readers, and the advertisers who support our Boomer/Thrive brand.
Look for our summer issue in June, our fall issue in September, and our holiday issue in November.
To tide you over between issues, we’ll be amping up our online content with a directory and expanded feature stories. We have a great group of bloggers covering topics from gardening to pet care to fitness. Plus, we’ll continue our weekly electronic newsletter, “The Beat,” which comes out every Wednesday morning. Our publishing schedule will coincide with our popular Bash events. The next one is March 27 at LaCentre in Westlake.
As we celebrate the New Year, I want to thank you for comments and story ideas. Feel free to email me at [email protected].
Here’s to finding new ways to Thrive in 2025. Happy New Year.

Hi Marie,
The upcoming new version of boomer sounds like its right on target!! I would love to hear about 1-3 day driving trips of interest to thrivers 60-70 yrs…. There are so many things and places to visit but some info about what senior travelers might best navigate would be appreciated. Some points of interest to younger families are not as easy to navigate. However seniors do enjoy seeing the beauty and scenery on a different level. Its also important to be able to slow things down to enjoy the points of interest vs rushing to the next goal.
Happy new year!
