Rock Hall’s Black History Month Programs

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is celebrating Black History Month in February by spotlighting and celebrating the impact of African American artists on the past, present and future of rock and roll. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2024 Black History Month programming lineup includes:

  • Album Deep Dive: Living Colour’s Time’s Up – February 15 at 7 p.m. – Presented with the American Musicological Society, host Kimberly Mack will discuss Living Colour’s 1990 album Time’s Up using autobiographical narrative, past interviews with Living Colour and Time’s Up’s production team, and cultural criticism. This event is free with RSVP.
  • Black Music Now: February 23 at 7 p.m. –The evening will begin with a panel hosted by Dr. Laina Dawes exploring the often-contentious relationship between Black rock, heavy metal, punk and alternative musicians and Black media and will conclude with live performances by UNIITY and Nox. Tickets cost $10 and are available online now.
  • Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America – This 60-minute film playing in the Foster Theater highlights classic performances from Soul Train. Film viewing is included with museum admission.
  • On Exhibit: Newly on exhibit throughout the Museum in February include artifacts from Freddie King, Nile Rodgers, Elizabeth Cotten, Alicia Keys, H.E.R. and more.
  • Hip Hop at 50: Holla If Ya Hear Me Sponsored by Technics and Celcius – This exhibit celebrates the music and cultural impact of key artists, styles, and moments from hip-hop history. Included with museum admission.
  • Sounds of Black History Month: Check out the Rock Hall’s latest playlists on Spotify featuring our curated playlists and hear how Black music has shaped rock and roll over the decades.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is located at 1100 Rock N Roll Blvd. in downtown Cleveland. Hours are 10-5 p.m. daily, with hours extended to 9 p.m. on Thursdays. On Feb. 29 the hall closes at 5 p.m.
