Thrive’s spring issue will be here in a few short weeks and we want you to be part of it.
Truthfully, our readers have always been a part of Northeast Ohio Boomer—now Thrive—magazine. I enjoy getting your emails and hearing your comments at our popular Bash events, and your story ideas frequently end up in the magazine. Keep them coming, please.
For Thrive’s spring issue, we’re working on a story about retirement. Everyone approaches it differently with goals and lifestyle changes that suit their personality and pocketbook. What’s yours?
Please send me an email at [email protected] and we may include your comments in our story. Are you staying put? Heading to a warmer climate? Planning a big trip? Getting reacquainted with your community after years of commuting to work? Are you excited about retirement or worried about navigating the financial and day-to-day changes?
As someone whose husband has just retired, I have a newfound appreciation for the uncertainty and excitement that comes with this stage of life. It’s only been a few months; I’ll keep you posted.
Retirement will continue to be an important topic for Thrive, and the numbers tell the story. Here in Ohio, 17 % of us are 65 and older, according to the latest census records. We fall right in the middle compared to other states. A big reason we have such a large concentration of older adults, a group that’s expected to increase substantially in the next five years, is because young adults are moving to other states, people don’t have as many children, and people 65 and older are largely remaining here. Sound familiar?
Again, drop me a line by Feb. 15 and tell me about your retirement: do you like it? You’re a vital part of what will help us keep Thriving in 2025.
