Meet Our Podcast: Next Half, Best Half

Meet Our Podcast: Next Half, Best Half

We did it. We jumped into the podcast pool.

You’ll find the first episode on our website (and soon on your favorite podcast platforms) with our guest NEO pop culture expert Mike Olszewski who talks about vintage Cleveland TV show personalities Barnaby, Mr. Jingaling, Ghoulardi and more.

The host of Next Half, Best Half is Marie Elium — that’s me. I’m editor of Northeast Ohio Boomer magazine and, like a lot of you, a huge podcast fan. Among my favorites: Fresh Air, This American Life, and The Daily. I plan to start listening to Crooked City: Youngstown, OH next.

But listening to podcasts every day and hosting a podcast are two very different things. The good news is that Northeast Ohio, and NEO Boomer magazine in particular, have lots of interesting people to draw from. I’m starting with folks I know because they’ve written for Boomer and are fun to talk to. They also happen to be experts in their fields.

My only request is to be patient. I’m new at this podcast-hosting gig. But know that what I lack in experience I’ll make up for in enthusiasm. I’ve wanted to do a Northeast Ohio Boomer magazine podcast for a long time. Thanks to our initial sponsor, Greater Cleveland Volunteers, and the support of publisher Brad Mitchell, it’s become a reality.

Oh, and about the name Next Half, Best Half — we brainstormed and decided it was a great description for how we (and we hope you) view “Better Living After 50.”

Listen and enjoy. Here’s to making your next half, your best half.
Marie

I’ve gone water skiing a few times over the years, and the only thing I remember is where my swimsuit bottom ended up when my backside hit the water. That’s probably not an issue for the Chippewa Lake Water Ski Show Team in Medina.
