Featuring four informative speakers per day, a silent auction, raffle baskets and a books and bulbs sale. A breakfast buffet and lunch are also included. The cost is $60 for both days or $37.50 for one day.
February 29th Presentations
Jacqueline Kowalski, OSU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator for Summit County, will let us in on a
new, trendy color palette of “non-color” options for your garden in her talk Color Isn’t Everything!
Sex in the Garden, presented by Master Gardener Volunteer Phyllis Mihalik, will detail the whole spicy story of the special
interaction between flowers, insects and birds in nature.
A horticulturist at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Amp Giles will explore the vast array of plants used in the perfume
industry in From Garden to Bottle: Plants of the Perfume Industry.
Arborist John Palmer will help us avoid mistakes in the garden which can lead to our garden landscapes being much less
sustainable in Deforestation by Design.
March 7th Presentations
Dan Hermes, VP of Research and Development for The Davey Tree Expert Company will address concerns of climate
change and its effects in Climate Change, Forest, and Arboriculture: As Earth Warms, Trees Feel the Heat. In Where
Would We Be Without Birds?
Jamey Emmert, Wildlife Communications Specialist for the Division of Wildlife’s Northeast Ohio district will share how
Conservationists literally saved billions of birds 100 years ago as well as the importance of these feathered creatures to
us now.
Aaron Wilson, Atmospheric Scientist at The Ohio State University, will help us explore differences between weather and
climate. He’ll share how the changes in climate affect our landscapes as well as what is projected for our future in
Weather and Climate Impacts on Gardening in Ohio.
In Fun with Plant Families! Jim Chatfield, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist with The Ohio State University,
will inspire us to step out of our comfort zones and try new things in the garden.
