Elephant ears and an Italian sausage sandwich. That’s my favorite fair food combo. Add in great people watching opportunities, and I’m in heaven.
You can get a jump on the fair food season with the free Cuyahoga County Fair Food Walk-Thru set for Sat., May 17 and Sun., May 18 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. each day.
The food preview supports the upcoming 128th Annual Cuyahoga County Fair that runs from Aug. 5-Aug. 11.
“This event is being brought back by popular demand, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the enthusiastic patronage of those who have supported our fair for so many years,” says Fair Board Concession Director Diane Barton.
The Fair Food Walk-Thru will highlight favorite midway foods with over a dozen concessionaires and vendors. From pizza, gyros, steak sandwiches, Italian sausage, hand-dipped corn dogs, fried veggies, loaded tator tots and pierogies, to sweet treats like apple dumplings, strudel, kettle corn, elephant ears and so much more. If it’s fair food, you’ll probably find it.
This is a rain-or-shine event with free admission and free parking at both the Main Entrance at 19201 East Bagley and through Gate 2 off 164 Eastland Road. Some vendors accept credit cards; most are cash-only.
Attendees can also enjoy midway arcade games (Balloon Pop, Basketball, Water Race & More) and an Axe Throwing Game.
You’ll find the “Ready, Set, Shop” at the 4-H Rummage Sale (Friday through Sunday) in the Junior Fair Building.
If shopping isn’t your thing, then check out the hands-on activities for kids that includes a petting zoo (Animal Meet & Greet). Proceeds from all 4-H activities benefit the Cuyahoga County 4-H.
