Celebrate the Season at Stan Hywet

Celebrate the Season at Stan Hywet

One of the best places to enjoy the holiday season, both indoors and out, is at Akron’s Stan Hywet. Stroll the expansive grounds, check out the lavishly decorated manor house, and celebrate with a visit to Deck the Hall: Lights, Cameras, Christmas!

The grounds and hall are open on select evenings now through December 30 on the following days: December 2-5, 9-23 and 26-30 starting at 5 p.m. The estate is open until 9 p.m. each day. Masks are required inside all buildings.

The estate is decorated with one million holiday lights, and the Manor House décor is inspired by the theme of Lights, Cameras, Christmas.

Outside, the gardens and grounds feature one million holiday lights, the perfect setting for a brisk winter stroll. Dazzle in the Great Garden spotlights three holiday songs choreographed to the display of lights.

Family favorites and classic Christmas movies will be staged in 21 spaces in the Manor House, with 25 decorated trees. Just like going to the movies, guests will start the Deck the Hall tour in “movie theater lobby” aka the Reception Room, but decorated with ticket stubs, candy and popcorn. Then it’s a red carpet walk in the Linenfold Hallway with walk-of-fame stars and film reels setting the scene.

The display in the Music Room tells the story of “The Nutcracker,” featuring stage costumes from the Cleveland Ballet. Other talented local decorators and artists, including Akron Makerspace and the local Lego Group, NEOLUG, are part of the team creating a Deck the Hall display in the Manor House worthy of the silver screen.

Looking for gifts? Molly’s Shop will be open throughout the event.

Dress for the weather and plan on a 60-minute outdoor walking experience.

  1. Wish there were tours thru NE Ohio Boomer to some of these events…

Wouldn’t that be great? In years past, Boomer has organized various tours, but since the pandemic, we have been waiting for a better, safer environment to move forward with new options. Stay tuned for an eventual return to future tours!
