Comprehensive and Free Grief Support for Cancer Loss Classes Offered Through The Gathering Place

There are a lot of good grief support groups in the community, but The Gathering Place’s, “Moving Forward Through Grief,” is different due to its unique comprehensive focus. It is a group for those who have lost an adult family member due to cancer. The group addresses the emotional and physical aspects of grief and includes a support group, exercise classes and nutrition classes.

The program is professionally facilitated by Carl Harmon, NSCA-CPT, Stephanie Hopkins, MS, RDN, LD and Mary Fisher-Bornstein, LISW-S, a social worker at The Gathering Place with over 40 years of practice in mental health and oncology.

“Supporting someone through the cancer journey can be all consuming. Often caregivers do not have the time to emotionally or physically take care of themselves,” says Fisher-Bornstein. This program provides people with emotional support and physical support by taking care of their body through exercise and cooking classes.”

The group will meet in-person Mondays and Wednesdays, April 18 – May 25, from 6-8:15 p.m. It is a six week program and includes a support group once a week, exercise twice a week and a nutrition class for 4 weeks.

Space is limited. Register at [email protected] or 216-455-1506
