Boomer Team Wins Writing, Design Awards

Northeast Ohio Boomer magazine took first place in the Editorial/Opinion and Overall Design categories at the 2024 NAMPA  (North American Mature Publishers Association) awards.

Editor Marie Elium was recognized for her Editor’s Note column “Pride & Prejudice: The Senior Discount Dilemma.” The judges said the column was “fun to read and meticulously written.”

Director Laura Chadwick’s design of the three consecutive issues submitted took top honors with the the judges saying, ” Every page has movement and is well laid out. Articles and advertising are blended in a way that helps the eye float through the pages. The large number of photographs adds interest and illustrates the stories very well.”

Northeast Ohio Boomer magazine was launched in 2015. Publisher Brad Mitchell of Mitchell Media oversees the team and the bimonthly magazine that encourages readers to “Thrive after 55.”

The free magazine is distributed throughout a seven-county region at 700+ locations, reaching 80,000 readers including 5,000 through its weekly electronic newsletter and website northeastohiothrive.com.
