Raise a Glass for a Great Cause

The Crocker Park Wine Festival will be in full swing this weekend, so come on out and allow us to pour you a glass in support of University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, the leading pediatric facility in Northeast Ohio.

The wine festival is sponsored by Market District and will showcase over 150 wines from local, national and international producers and more than 30 select craft beers and a variety of spirits. Guests will enjoy live music, food, exhibitors, and various activities throughout the weekend. Be sure to stop by the NEO Parent and Boomer tent at 4-10 p.m. on Friday or 2-10 p.m. Saturday.

Festival tickets are $30 through September 12 and $35 at the door for 10 tastings and a souvenir wine glass. Additional taste tickets are $1 each and available on site only. Full pour beer and wine options range from $4 to $6. Weekend passes are also available for $40 prior to July 31, $50 August 1 – September 12 and are $60 at the door.

McGregor Offers Expanded Housing Options

As Clevelanders seek a wider range of housing options, McGregor is coming up with creative solutions that support the need for affordable assisted living.

Designed to serve the growing population of aging people in Northeast Ohio, this three-story assisted living residence, comprised of 90 private units, is rising on part of the McGregor Home’s 45-acre campus to enhance the services already being offered. The building will offer both studio and one-bedroom units.

There will be plenty of opportunity for people to enjoy the quality services for which McGregor is known. The building is scheduled to open in October 2019, with a public Grand Opening in November.

The Secret to a Long, Healthy Life? Just WALK.

Here’s the magic pill: Walking as little as two hours per week can help you live longer and reduce the risk of chronic disease.

A study from the American Cancer Society followed 140,000 older adults and reported that those who walked six hours per week had a lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, and cancer than those who were not active, but that walking even as little as two hours per week could begin to reduce the risk of disease and help you live a longer, healthier life.

“Our bodies were designed to move,” said Dr. David Agus, Professor of Medicine and Engineering at the University of Southern California.
