Akron Zoo Senior Safari Returns

The Akron Zoo’s popular event, Senior Safari, will take place on Friday, Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Adults aged 62 and older will receive discounted admission for the day at $7 per person. Tickets are available at the door the day of the event or online in advance at akronzoo.org/tickets.

Local organizations that offer services for older adults will be on site throughout the zoo, sharing information and giveaways. All adults 62 and older will receive an Akron Zoo tote bag, complimentary coffee, animal encounters, crafts and more. A lunch special of hot dogs, chips and canned pop will also be available in the zoo’s Komodo Kingdom Café for $6.99.

A limited number of wheelchairs are available—free of charge—and a limited number of electric scooters are available for $27 per day. All rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. Off-season hours of 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. begin Sept. 3. Admission ranges from $9 to $19. Children under two are admitted for free and parking is also free. For more information, visit akronzoo.org or call (330) 375-2550.

Founded in 1953, the Akron Zoo is a non-profit, world conservation zoo with more than 2,000 animals from around the world. It is located just west of downtown Akron at 500 Edgewood Ave.
