You ready to get down and boogie? It’s time to get into our Disco Inferno time capsule at our upcoming Boomer Bash and replay those dance-floor hits that made the ’70s so much fun.
Buy your tickets now to save your place at Boomer Bash West on April 12, 4:30-7 p.m. at LaCentre Conference & Banquet Facility in Westlake, presented by Northeast Ohio Boomer, co-sponsored by Hospice of the Western Reserve.
The scene will be set, complete with a sparkling disco ball over the dance floor. Versatile, dynamic vocal duo Rick and Sharona will deliver live renditions of disco’s greatest hits while you dance, sip our Boomer Funktini signature cocktail, nibble delectable small bites, network with colleagues, visit vendor booths, meet new friends, and enjoy our array of entertainment options, from silent auction raffles to glam photos and sketched caricatures while you wait.
Through it all, you’ll escape back to the mid-1970s, when disco began to dominate the airwaves with its catchy rhythms and pulsating beats. By 1976, disco music dominated the Billboard charts. Donna Summer, the Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor, the Brothers Johnson, Earth, Wind & Fire, and many other disco performers were all the rage.
Remember when “Saturday Night Fever” opened in December 1977? Disco was already on the rise but this movie starring John Travolta and featuring Bee Gees hits took disco totally mainstream. The film’s soundtrack became one of the best-selling albums of all time.
Let’s linger on 1977 for a moment, pop culture buffs. The year also brought us the birth of the most famous science-fiction franchise in history with George Lucas’ first movie in the “Star Wars” saga. (And don’t forget Steven Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”)
The dawn of home video gaming arrived with Combat and Street Racer on Atari 2600s. And we watched John Belushi and Bill Murray break new ground on late-night TV with the second season of Saturday Night Live, along with those “wild and crazy guys” Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd.
Then there were the debuts of the Apple II home computer, Chia Pets, Slim Fast, Chevy Impalas, tracksuits, tube tops and Jimmy Carter as president… Disco aside, 1977 was a big year!
So, re-live the funky disco era at Boomer Bash West. It’s just weeks away! Save time at the door and pre-purchase today. Tickets will be available at the Bash but will be CASH ONLY. Lock in your tickets here.
