Playhouse Square, the largest performing arts center outside NYC, is also the world’s largest theater restoration project. The five opulent theaters which opened in the 1920’s succumbed to the Depression era, the post-World War 2 flight to the suburbs and the rise of television, sending the downtown theaters into a death spiral that resulted in neglect and vandalism.
