The Haven Home invites the Northeast Ohio community to lace up their sneakers Aug. 16 for The Walk Home, a 5K or 1-mile walk/run to support its mission to empower pregnant and parenting mothers who are experiencing homelessness.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Hope Ignites (9438 Dorothy Ave., Garfield Heights, OH 44125) and will include raffle baskets, games for kids, and complimentary post-race snacks and drinks. Participants can choose between a timed 5K run or a 1-mile fun walk or run through Garfield Park.

Funds raised through The Walk Home directly support The Haven Home’s work providing safe, stable transitional housing and resources for pregnant and parenting women and their children, up to age 5. In addition to providing transitional housing, The Haven Home offers mothers access to healthcare as well as personalized enrichment services to foster independence and move their families from poverty to prosperity.

“Each step we take together helps a mom move closer to safe housing, stability, and opportunity,” said Cynthia Rios, executive director of The Haven Home. “This is more than a walk—it’s a community coming together to uplift mothers and families.”

The fifth annual The Walk Home event carries special significance, as The Haven Home celebrates a powerful year of transformation, including a refreshed brand and expansion of its operational model—moving from serving as an emergency overflow shelter to a transitional home to help pregnant and parenting mothers and their families.
