New York Fashion Week has long been synonymous with avant-garde fashion, showcasing a glimpse of what we will see in the stores the coming spring. Here are some eye-catching, hot fashion trends from NYFW 2023, where our team at Cultured Curves had a bird’s eye view. Adapt as needed to add one or two stylish pieces to your wardrobe.

1. Boring Business Wear, Transformed

The new business suit has arrived. Yes, there is still the need to wear formal business attire to some settings, including board meetings or to secure that million-dollar deal.

Well, now we can follow the rules of corporate America and still be stylish. Business suits in bright colors and non-traditional fabrics brought joy to the face of every businesswoman in the audience.

2. Statement Headpieces

There was a time in the not-so-distant past when no one, man or woman, would ever dream of leaving the house, even to visit a friend, without wearing a hat. While cultural norms have changed, our desire to stand out from the crowd has never dimmed, evident in the many statement headpieces on the runway. Heavenly hats, cutting-edge crowns, and even fluffy feathers graced countless runways.

3. Statement Sleeves

Draped and flowing statement sleeves, often embellished with beading, sequins, or fringe, were a fan favorite this season. The crowd went wild whenever one of the models gracefully swept her arm up to call attention to her elegant sleeves!

4. Streetwear With a Twist

Though streetwear is not typically aligned with a mature wardrobe, think again. Basic pieces like jeans and hoodies are found in most wardrobes and were leveled up with unique patches and bedazzled logos. Footwear was not excluded! Super stylish sneakers, boots, and even sandals were all the rage.

5. Trains

Trains are no longer just for walking down the aisle on your wedding day! Full and partial trains were everywhere this NYFW, adding extra glamor to even a simple dress. Think train when shopping for the upcoming holiday season or a special occasion. Just pick it up before walking so you don’t trip like some models almost did!

6. Tulle

Yes, the material that ballerina tutus are made of is back in fashion for everyone! It is now available in many different varieties, making many appearances at NYFW, not just in skirts or dresses. While you may not run to the store to buy the next great tulle skirt, the fabric was also found more subtly on the edges of collars and sleeves for a soft, feminine effect.
