Jessie Buckley in Chanel

The afterglow is upon us, but it’s still Oscar time, my favorite style occasion of the year. These are my picks for best-dressed of the night. While some of these ladies are not yet 50, their style represented the elegant and refinement that comes with age. Let’s learn from their incredible ensembles.

The best-dressed of the Oscars goes to Jessie Buckley in Chanel. I love the red wrap, yes, but what really makes this look is the contrast hues. The vivid red complements her face and lip beautifully, and then you have that soft pink dress and train. It’s breathtaking. Truly breathtaking. The necklace completes the look perfectly.

Charithra Chandran in Miss Sohee

Next, we have Charithra Chandran in Miss Sohee. Look at this gorgeous dress. You know I love color, and this hue is absolutely stunning. The fit is pure perfection, which can also be altered for modesty. And I love a good bustle at the back. It almost looks like a bow and just adds that extra detail. This look is one of the best dresses of the night.

Alba Baptista in Zuhair Murad

Next, we have Alba Baptista in Zuhair Murad. The reason I love this dress is the draping. The draping and the fit are absolutely gorgeous. If you’re going to wear a lighter shade, there has to be something special about it—and here, it’s the draping. It feels so romantic. Off the shoulder, paired with a beautiful necklace, it’s just class, class, class.

Ava DuVernay in Louis Vuitton

Yes to Ava DuVernay in Louis Vuitton. Look at those shoulders. The exaggerated shoulders are everything on this dress. The necklace complements it beautifully, and the clutch ties it all together. And what’s special is that this dress isn’t black, it’s a deep navy. That color makes it even more stunning. Absolutely gorgeous. Now look at the fit. If you’re going to wear exaggerated shoulders, you must have structure through the waist and hips, and she nailed it.

Demi Moore in Gucci

Another favorite: Demi Moore in Gucci. She looks like a beautiful bird, in the best way. If you’re going to do feathers, you need structure. Otherwise, it can look overwhelming. But here, the feathers are placed to draw your eye upward to her face. The waist is fitted, the silhouette is a beautiful trumpet shape, and then you have the train. This look is stunning.

Elle Fanning in Givenchy

Next, Elle Fanning in Givenchy. This is a princess dress, and she felt like a princess, you can tell. It’s absolutely spectacular. It doesn’t read bridal. It is elegant and tailored. Fitted through the bust and waist, and then the volume at the bottom is intentional and interesting. Notice the jewelry, just a necklace and one bracelet. Not overdone. This is one of her best looks ever.

Anne Hathaway in Valentino

If you are going to wear a floral pattern on the red carpet, let it be Valentino. THIS is drama. Look at the extended train. The long black gloves scream Old Hollywood. When wearing strapless, go for the long dramatic earrings to add an extra touch. This ensemble from head to toe is spectacular.

Kate Hudson in Giorgio Armani Privé

And last but not least, Kate Hudson in Giorgio Armani Privé. This ensemble is the best Kate Hudson has ever looked. Not just this award season—ever. This green dress is stunning. The necklace complements it perfectly, but the real star is the fit. And let’s talk about that peplum. Peplum will make your body shine—no matter your shape. Whether you’re straight, curvy, or somewhere in between, that peplum creates balance and definition.

Ladies, you knocked it out of the ballpark.

How to Wear the Color of the Year

Pantone has chosen Pantone Cloud Dancer, a delicate, airy white, as the 2026 Color of the Year.  Unlike stark or clinical white, Cloud Dancer has a soft, billowy quality that evokes serenity, balance and clarity. This refined neutral works beautifully as a wardrobe foundation, allowing color, texture and silhouette to shine without overpowering your look.
