Seniors are invited to spend a day connecting with friends, discovering valuable community resources and enjoying the fun and relaxing atmosphere of Lake Metroparks Farmpark during Senior Fair on Thursday, September 10.
Created especially for adults age 55 and older, Senior Fair combines recreation, wellness and education in one enjoyable experience. Whether guests are looking to learn about local services, take advantage of health resources, meet new people or simply enjoy a day on the farm, there will be plenty of opportunities to do so.
The day begins with a vendor showcase from 9 a.m. to noon, featuring local organizations, businesses and service providers that offer products and resources important to today’s seniors. Guests can gather information, ask questions and connect directly with experts who support healthy, active lifestyles.
Attendees can also take advantage of free health screenings provided by University Hospitals from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Screenings include blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), osteoporosis, glucose and cholesterol checks. Registration is recommended, although walk-ins will be accepted as space and time permit.
In addition to these valuable resources, Senior Fair offers plenty of opportunities for entertainment and recreation. Guests can enjoy informational presentations, a featured guest speaker and Bingo games with prizes. Those who enjoy spending time outdoors can participate in catch-and-release fishing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while animal encounters, wagon rides and Farmpark demonstrations provide even more ways to explore and experience the park throughout the day.
A complimentary lunch will be served in the pond pavilion for seniors who pre-register. Lunch walk-ins will be accepted beginning at 1 p.m. as food is available.
Perhaps the best reason to attend? Admission is FREE for adults ages 55 and older with valid ID. Combined with complimentary health screenings, opportunities to connect with local organizations and a full lineup of activities, Senior Fair offers an enjoyable and rewarding way to spend the day at Lake Metroparks Farmpark.
