Road Trip: Oberlin Art & Architecture

We’re starting road trip season, and here’s a suggestion for a place to kick off your springtime ramblings: Oberlin.

Less than an hour west of Cleveland, the picturesque college town has a lot to see. At the top of the list is the Allen Memorial Art Museum with an eclectic permanent collection and a rotation of innovative exhibitions.

And from now through November, just a short distance away from the museum, you can tour the Weltzheimer/Johnson House of Northeast Ohio’s 12 Frank Lloyd Wright buildings. The house at 534 Morgan St. is open to the public starting Sunday, April 12 and on the first Sunday of each month through November. Visitors can explore the home’s distinctive design, from its low horizontal lines and natural materials to its seamless connection with the surrounding landscape.

Admission is $10 per adult. Oberlin College students (with ID) and children 18 and under are admitted
free of charge. Advance registration is required at amam.oberlin.edu/flw.

The Allen Memorial Art Museum is free and open from 1–5 p.m. on Sundays. Visitors can also enjoy 10% off regular-priced menu items and merchandise at participating Oberlin businesses by showing their registration confirmation email. More details are available online.
