Before you pack your bags, use this practical checklist guide to navigate online booking sites, third-party aggregators and vacation rental platforms like a pro.
Your Secure Travel Booking Checklist
1. Spot Fake Online Travel Agencies
Third-party booking sites can offer tempting discounts, but not all of them are legitimate. Scammers often build sophisticated, lookalike websites that mimic well-known airlines or hotel chains to steal your personal and financial information.
Check for contact info: A legitimate travel agency will prominently display a phone number for customer service and a physical corporate address. If the website only has a generic contact form or completely lacks an address, close the tab.
Inspect the URL: Look closely at the address bar. Double-check for slight misspellings of popular brand names or strange domain extensions (like .net-travel instead of .com).

Read the fine print: Make sure you fully understand the cancellation policy. Last-minute deals often come with strict, non-refundable clauses if your plans happen to change.
