Help Summit Metro Parks Celebrate Its 100th Anniversary

Established in 1921, Summit Metro Parks has been “Your Back Yard for 100 Years.”

All year, the park system will commemorate this milestone occasion, beginning with the launch of a new centennial website and followed by several ways for the community to join in the celebration throughout 2021.

Visit www.summitmetroparks100.org to explore plans for the upcoming year and take a journey to the past with an interactive timeline of the park district’s history – complete with vintage photographs, audio recordings and video.

The centennial celebration pays tribute to four themes that have been the hallmarks of the park district’s first century: protecting natural resources, celebrating cultural heritage, connecting people to nature and honoring community support.

Check the park district website for in-person and virtual activities throughout the year.
