Forget the myths you know. ‘Kassandra’ brings the raw, cinematic truth of the Trojan War to a seedy bar near you. This is a story of sex, war, and power—a modern noir odyssey born from the ruins of ancient Troy. It is the story of a woman who is, simultaneously, the Cassandra of ancient Greek tragedy and a transgender immigrant sex worker living in our own time. While waiting for a client in a shady waterfront bar, she recounts what “really” happened during the Trojan War. And she holds nothing back!
The show is presented in a “live cinematic performance style”—a fusion of film and theater. Thus, Kassandra becomes a one-woman show backed by a “cast of thousands” in all their historical and mythical glory. Written by acclaimed Franco-Uruguayan playwright Sergio Blanco, directed by Dante Larzabal, and produced by John Rivera-Resto (Trópico Macbeth), Kassandra is an ironic performance that uses myth to address the grim reality of an underrepresented segment of society.
